This summer, I had the pleasure of visiting Washington D.C.
On my first day, my family and I walked around the city after checking into the hotel. We walked past the White House, and as we walked around the South Lawn, a crowd gathered at the gate.
My family sat on a park bench because my dad thought that President Obama might be leaving the White House.
My dad and my brother began to point out guards on the rooftops.
We sat on that bench for about 15 minutes before my mom wanted to move on.
My mom and I began to walk further, and when we got directly behind the crowd, my mother game me a sideways look.
She pulled out her phone and called my dad.
"They're crowded there because they can get a clear view of the White House from there!"
Not even a second after she said that, we could hear the buzzing of a helicopter.
As if on cue, there it was. Marine One flew directly over our heads, right past the Washington Monument, and landed on the South Lawn.
After a few minutes, there he was. President Obama made his way to the helicopter.
Even though I disagree with him on practically every issue, it was amazing to see the President of the United States.
Once again, the helicopter flew directly over my head as it left. However, this time it was accompanied by two black hawks.
It was pretty darn cool to experience this, and it is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
