Wanderlust

There's no denying that when people think of Kansas, they think of wheat fields dotted with the occasional farm or small town.
Now, there's also no denying that most of Kansas is like that. The seclusion endured while living in a small town is very real, and it becomes part of the culture among residents.
Wherever a culture exists, there are also people who want to break free from it and see what life is like beyond their county line.
That's exactly what Macy Santos wants to do with her life.
This small-town girl has been everywhere from the big cities of Boston and New York to the rich culture centers of Louisiana, California and Texas
Comparatively, this is a big accomplishment for a girl from Kansas because many out-of-staters seem to believe that Kansans can't locate those places on a map.
That isn't even the tip of the iceberg.
Santos has explored London, Switzerland, Germany and Greece as she follows her dream.
Not only does Santos want to experience other cultures, she wants to fully immerse herself into them and understand the day-to-day life of the people she meets.
During her Tour de Europe, Santos traveled with a small group of strangers and stayed in native families' homes.
She also does mission trips, and is planning trips to Thailand and South Africa to help people and understand their struggles.
"By figuring out their lives I'm somehow going to figure out mine," Santos said.
She will also travel to China, which will be a break from her charity and a well-deserved vacation.
