Ode To a New Friend

One of the most common misconceptions that teenagers make about each other is that "fangirls", or people very involved in books, television shows, or movies, are all a bunch of obsessive teenage girls. That may be true, but some people have personal reasons.
Take Sarah Spoon for example. A while ago, she became hooked on the popular television series "Supernatural". Not because the protagonists are hot, but because she related to the older, protective brother.
Spoon said that the relationship between the protagonist brothers Sam and Dean reminded her of her little brother, Peter. Dean always protected Sam, just like Spoon protects Peter. Protecting him, that is, from their own father.
"My father would hit me with 2x4's, metal rods and even an ax once. Pretty much anything he could get his hands on," Spoon said.
Year after year of putting up with the abuse, Spoon made the courageous decision to move herself and Peter into foster care.
All of the trauma swelled up inside of Spoon, giving her PTSD and even causing her to become suicidal. The only things that helped her were writing, fandoms and Peter.
"When you don't remember your own story, it's better to make up other people's," she said.
With a passion for creating people's stories, Spoon has written a variety of FanFiction, poems, and short stories. Many of which are historical, about people in the Civil War or World War II. Anyone that could have a special feat, or inspire Spoon in anyway, marched their way into her writings.
With writing as her escape, Spoon is armed with her pen, her imagination, and her desire to inspire not only others, but herself.
Obstacles can seem impossible, but Sarah Spoon shows others that courage and will can help to get through them.

And Sarah, you said that nobody wants to be your friend? Well, I do.
